Core principles for Invictus
Salve!
Early on I decided that establishing some core principles for Invictus would help me make decisions on what to include and what not. When an idea starts bouncing around in my head, I use these the principles to est if the idea is worth keeping around or not. All of the things in Invictus should be able to tick off one or multiple of these principles.
Since the project is still in its infancy the list is not yet finalised yet but these already helped me decide on some things. Here are the current core principles
The core principles
- Recognisable as the "Roman era"
- Stereotypes as seen through the hollywood lens like:
- Legions in Lorica Segmentata
- Tunics
- Toga's
- Marble buildings
- Nods to real historical events, people, equipment. People who know their "roman stuff" should be able to recognise parts of Invictus
- Stereotypes as seen through the hollywood lens like:
- It's a branch of our own history. That means a grounded base to work off from
- Man and myth are entwined. Some myths are not myths but real.
- Magic is real and dangerous. Stole this from Pirate Borg <3
- Rules light & Lore medium. That means Invictus might contain a bit more reading than other Borg hacks.
By sharing these I hope to offer a glimps in the process and give you an idea what the thought process is. This also offers some insight on what sort of content you could expect in Invictus.
